It was announced on July 5, 2023 as the company’s first new color film in four years [5], and is sold in 35 mm, 120 and 110 [1] [2] [3]. The name evokes the look of 1990s snapshots, not a stock from 1992; Lomography publishes no datasheet for it [1].
Look and color
Lomography’s own description mentions blue hues, vibrant reds and delicate pastel undertones, a look it ties to 1990s nostalgia [1] [5]. Reviewers agree on a muted palette but not on the color cast:
- Shadows. Blue for Shoot It With Film and Analog.cafe [3] [1]; yellowish-brown for Parallax [4]; a “noticeable color shift in blacks and shadows” for Fstoppers [7].
- Highlights and midtones. Green and yellow in Shoot It With Film [3]; “nice-looking blues in the highlights” for Parallax [4]. Analog.cafe warns that skies can turn yellow [1].
- Saturation. “Medium” for Shoot It With Film [3]; “well saturated, with a strong warm tone” for Fstoppers [7]. DPReview finds cool tones overall [2]. The warm and cool readings contradict each other, and we did not resolve it.
- Reds. They stand out in Analog.cafe, Fstoppers and Parallax [1] [7] [4].
- Skin. Muted pink in Analog.cafe [1]; Fstoppers saw a strong red cast on its subjects [7].
DPReview calls the film unpredictable and says its results improved with digital adjustment after scanning [2].
Tonality
- Contrast. Medium-low, with saturation dropping under overexposure, per Analog.cafe [1]. DPReview finds it flatter and less punchy than expected [2].
- Underexposure. Shoot It With Film says it “does not like to be underexposed” and wants good light; it recommends box speed or slight overexposure [3]. Analog.cafe places the sweet spot from mid-tones to highlights [1].
- Contradiction. Fstoppers, shooting on an overcast day, got good results under- and overexposed by two stops [7]. This differs from the other reviews, and we did not resolve it.
- Long exposures. Analog.cafe reports no apparent reciprocity failure at one second [1].
Grain and sharpness
No granularity figure is published. The reviews agree the grain is heavy for ISO 400:
- Analog.cafe compares it to LomoChrome Metropolis and finds it more visible in the shadows and tighter in the highlights, “less harsh and more organic” than earlier Lomography films [1].
- DPReview calls it “chunky” and oversized for the speed [2].
- Shoot It With Film: “This is a grainy film. No question about it”, and overwhelming when underexposed [3].
- Parallax says shadow detail gets lost in the grain [4].
Lomography itself advertises “powerful film grain” [5]. The Grain Archive style adds a coarse, strong grain for this reason; its settings are on the style page [9].

Names, status and history
- 2023 launch. Announced July 5, 2023 in 35 mm at £11.90, after LomoChrome Metropolis (2019) [5]. Lomography said 120 and 110 would follow, and reviews from late 2023 and early 2024 list all three formats [2] [3].
- Sun-kissed, 2024. In July 2024 Lomography released Color ’92 Sun-kissed for the first anniversary, with warmer tones than the original, in 35 mm, 120 and 110 [6]. It is a separate film; this page covers the original.
- Maker. Lomography says it uses “a unique colour layering process” [5] and does not name the coater.
- Status. On September 30, 2026, the Lomography shop listed the 35 mm film, per search results; we could not open the product page ourselves [8].
